Global Precision Engineering Manufacturers Enhance Customer Service with Cloudfy

Boneham & Turner Case Study – Empowering Digital Transformation with Cloudfy

Market leading precision engineering manufacturers, Boneham, support advanced industries including the motorsports, automotive and aerospace sectors. Over 100 years ago, the enterprising founders created their own equipment to meet their precise engineering needs. Today they offer unique tooling solutions for a range of high-end customers around the world. Boneham’s accurate deliveries, reactive approach, and strict quality procedures have established the company as a leading supplier.

Boneham remains committed to customer service, fast lead times, extreme accuracy, and competitive prices. To streamline sales processes the company wanted to reduce its reliance on telephone sales and simplify online transactions.

Recognising the importance of high-quality online self-service, the company chose Cloudfy as their business to business (B2B) ecommerce replatforming partner.

Solution: B2B ecommerce replatforming

Integration: SAP Business One

Features: B2B and B2C online self-service

The Challenge

The company wanted to enhance customer experiences with improved B2B and business to consumer (B2C) ecommerce features. Their existing solution didn’t have the power or flexibility to meet their complex product configuration, pricing, and service level requirements. Boneham also wanted to offer a modern B2C-style user interface with smooth, intuitive buying experiences.

The company needed to support complex three-tiered product variations and custom configurations. In a fast-paced hi-tech environment they also needed easy online presentations of 3D computer aided design (CAD) technical models.

Understandably, pricing management was a major challenge. Boneham required a fast and effective solution to provide customer-specific pricing, along with product group and volume-based discounts.

The company was struggling with access to back-office data to enhance customer experiences. A major upgrade was on the horizon, moving their SAP Business One enterprise (ERP) solution to the cloud. Cloudfy’s software as a service (SaaS) model and pre-built SAP integration would deliver a smooth transition and enhanced customer journeys.

After in-depth on-site demonstrations of Cloudfy’s native features, Boneham knew they didn’t need extensive development to meet their specific needs.

Our Approach

Boneham’s ambitions to provide high quality content and seamless customer journeys needed flexible back-office tools. Data access and content management via Cloudfy’s easy to use dashboard provided a smooth process.

  • Content management. The team can now create pages, add titles and featured categories using Cloudfy’s Page Design feature. It’s easy to maintain the site’s new branding, edit content and access customer order histories.
  • Product information. With 17,000 items in their catalog and multiple variants for 1,000 individual products, product information management was an ongoing challenge. Cloudfy streamlines the process with automated upload tools for product descriptions from SAP, plus images and PDF documents. Customers can use simple tabs to access all the information they need. If products don’t require additional information, the tabs aren’t visible.
  • Technical specifications. Typical customers are engineers and procurement teams in sectors like aerospace, automotive, and defense. To meet their specific requirements Boneham needed to deliver specialist online buying experiences. Cloudfy’s advanced configure, price, quote (CPQ) functionality gives customers self-selected configuration options for complex products. They can also access CAD technical models in embedded iframes, thanks to CADENAS 3D FindIt integration.
  • Easy ordering. Customers can quickly view and select multiple product variations and pricing options in a clear and structured way. They can make bulk purchases, place repeat orders, and see their own specific pricing without customer service team support.

SAP integration

SAP’s Business One ERP system provides a comprehensive business management solution. Manufacturers like Boneham benefit from a unified view of all their business operations. Seamless integration with B2B ecommerce and other systems and processes improves data accuracy and increases efficiency. It also supports automation of many manual processes, minimising data entry errors and improving customer service.

Cloudfy’s pre-built integration for SAP Business One minimizes the need for expensive customizations. It supports both SQL and HANA databases to simplify master data record imports. It can replicate SAP pricing logic and near real-time scheduling to increase organization-wide efficiency. With synchronized product information and inventory levels customers can always access the latest information online.

Results

Boneham’s previous platform was unable to fully support its specialist B2B requirements, resulting in low adoption. The company has now successfully met all its major operational objectives by replatforming with Cloudfy.

Boneham has improved customer experiences, increased self-service ordering, and reduced inbound telephone sales enquiries. Newly registered customers will soon have immediate visibility of their account details online.

The focus is now on broader digital transformation, moving more customer interactions online and further automating complex B2B sales processes. Boneham also intends to add a guest checkout for unregistered customers.

Enhanced CADENAS 3D FindIt integration will improve access and provide easy downloads for technical product models. Additional pricing tools will expand volume discounts, improve pricing by customer group and support targeted promotions.
